Sheep armor for protection against wolves

Against the backdrop of a growing wolf population in Europe and an increasing number of attacks on livestock, Austrian inventor Rudolf Schaubach proposed an unexpected and unusual solution. The specialist from the city of Villach, as a result of three years of work, created a prototype of special mesh "armor" that protects sheep from wolf bites.

However, this "armor," tested by the inventor on farms in the Alps, sparked fierce debate among livestock breeders and industry experts.

"A wolf that bites a sheep once will not attack again": what is the essence of the invention?

Rudolf Schaubach's idea is extremely simple: to create a lightweight plastic mesh "armor" covered in sharp spikes that will not weigh the animal down significantly or prevent it from moving freely. According to the inventor, by biting into such armor, a wolf will feel severe pain and abandon a second attack.

"The wolf is a very smart and cautious predator. If on its first attempt it encounters prickly plastic and feels pain, I don't think it will try to bite a sheep a second time," the Austrian inventor said in an interview with local media.

Farmers and experts are skeptical: "Impractical and dangerous!"

Despite the inventor's optimistic outlook, livestock breeders and agricultural organizations categorically reject the idea. In their view, such armor is completely ineffective, both financially and from the standpoint of animal safety.

How did the inventor respond to the criticism?

Rudolf Schaubach rejected the criticism directed at him, stating that people are judging his project based only on photos without conducting real tests. According to him, during testing, a sheep wore the mesh for several days, ate normally, and moved freely.

Nevertheless, due to strong discontent and growing controversy in Austria, Schaubach was forced to temporarily suspend testing on local farms. He is now looking for opportunities to test his "sheep armor" in other countries.
