Hellish heat in Iran: Dehloran tops world temperature rankings
As the summer of 2026 steadily approaches the title of the hottest season on record, Iran has decided to officially become the "planet's oven." The city of Dehloran recently posted figures that will melt not only the asphalt but also any sensible notion of a summer vacation: thermometers there recorded a mind-boggling 52.1°C. While Iran still has some way to go to catch the absolute national "all-time record" in Ahvaz (the same 53.7°C from 2017), the current readings confidently eclipse anything we saw in 2026. Meteorologists are simply at a loss: apparently, the planet isn't planning on turning on the air conditioning anytime soon, and we're in for plenty more surprises that will make even the most seasoned sun worshippers hot. ![]()
