Bonhams auction house will auction off an unusual vehicle called the Fink Mobile—a five-wheeled cross between a go-kart and a motorcycle, created by renowned customizer Ed Roth in 1992. The extravagant, collectible-status vehicle is expected to fetch between $18,000 and $24,000.

According to the auction house's description, the Fink Mobile represented Ed Roth's vision of a vehicle for the future—he imagined such "motorcycles" as would be used by residents of futuristic megacities.

The Fink Mobile's single-wheel drive rear end is based on a motorcycle, borrowed from a Honda Elite moped. The 150cc engine, producing 10 horsepower, shares the same design. Ed Roth designed the fiberglass "seat," the front suspension with four steerable miniature wheels, the steering mechanism with tiny handlebars, and the lighting himself.

The hybrid's creator was its sole private owner until he donated his creation to the collection of the National Automobile Museum. This exotic "motorcycle" is currently up for sale as part of the collection.
