Footage from a Philippine home shows the destructive power of a magnitude 7.8 earthquake
The Philippines was struck by a powerful 7.8-magnitude earthquake earlier this week. The epicenter was off the coast of Mindanao. The tremors killed at least 37 people, injured hundreds, and forced more than 20,000 residents to flee their homes.
Particularly severe damage occurred in General Santos and its surrounding areas, with homes, schools, roads, and other buildings damaged. Local authorities say it is the strongest earthquake to hit the country in approximately 50 years.
Video from a security camera in a residential building shows the building violently shaking in all directions, and the residents are rightfully panicking. As the shaking continues, the living room descends into complete chaos in seconds. In the chaos, even the grandmother seems to have been briefly forgotten, though she ultimately escaped relatively unscathed.
