Gas station blows up in Korea

Five people were injured as a result of a gas leak and explosion on Monday evening, January 2, in Changpyeongri District, Yeonpyeong-Myeong City (PyeongChang County, Gangwon Province, South Korea).

Two of the five victims suffered serious burns but are currently in stable condition, according to the Gangwon Provincial Fire Department and other sources. The other three escaped with minor injuries.

The explosion and subsequent fire damaged fourteen buildings and several vehicles. Residents of nearby areas were evacuated.

Three hours later the fire was localized.
