An explosion occurred at the Lourdes Fireworks Factory in Malta at 6:35 a.m. local time. It was followed by a series of small detonations. 
Authorities report that no employees were at the factory at the time of the incident. There are no reports of casualties.
Two farmers and a courier are currently known to have sustained minor injuries.
The blast wave damaged homes, cars, and other nearby objects.
