Aston Martin with Flamethrowers and a Very Unexpected Engine Up for Auction (12 photos)
Florida-based Conquer Custom has completed a rather unusual tuning project for an Aston Martin DB9. The inclusion of a few James Bond-esque accessories is less surprising than the choice of engine to replace the factory V12—a General Motors V8. The bidding closed at $57,007.
A DB9 after a serious accident was used for this project. During the restoration process, the damaged naturally aspirated 5.9-liter V12 was replaced with a 6.2-liter LS3 V8 engine from a Chevrolet Corvette. It is paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission from the same model.
Retractable flamethrowers are installed behind the folding radiator grille. They run on a mixture of propane and oxygen, with cylinders located in the trunk. A smoke grenade release system is also mentioned. The interior now features a themed instrument panel and an auxiliary equipment control unit.
However, the car's condition is not perfect. The windshield wipers don't work, and the horn and air conditioning compressor are activated by separate switches. The British coupe requires refueling slowly (the reason is not specified).
