Aircraft accident in Austria: a plane hit a paraglider at speed
A Cessna 172 light aircraft hit a paraglider at high speed over Austria. The athlete managed to deploy her reserve parachute and landed safely. The pilot also maintained control and landed the plane safely.
Sabrina, a paraglider, posted a video of herself flying near the Schmittenhoeh mountain in northern Austria. Suddenly, a small tour plane rammed her paraglider, just centimeters from her head.
The footage shows her screaming as she began to lose control, desperately trying to deploy the emergency parachute. The paraglider canopy ripped in half upon impact.
Miracle-likely, she managed to free herself from the ropes and deploy the emergency parachute. Afterward, she had a rather hard landing, as evidenced by her loud groan in the video.
"I still can't believe I'm sitting here writing this—and that, aside from a few nasty bruises and general aches and pains, nothing serious happened," Sabrina noted.
According to authorities, the sightseeing plane, piloted by the 28-year-old man, landed safely at Zell am See Airport.
