BYD is testing 1500 kW chargers (3 photos)
In parallel with the production of electric and hybrid vehicles, BYD is actively developing a network of charging stations in China, preparing to reach the next level of industry service. Public trials of 1,500 kW fast chargers, capable of instantly recharging the traction battery of 1,000-volt vehicles, are already underway in Shenzhen. Recharging for a 400 km range takes no more than 5 minutes. 
The new superchargers visually resemble a regular gas station. According to CarNewsChina, charging begins automatically approximately 10 seconds after connection, without the need for QR codes.
The cost of electricity at BYD's test charging station is 1.3 yuan per 1 kWh, which is three to four times lower than in the US or Europe. 
According to available data, BYD plans to establish over 4,000 self-service fast charging stations in the country, and partner networks have the potential to significantly increase this number. An additional incentive for future buyers of BYD battery-powered 1000-volt vehicles will be 1,000 kWh of free electricity per year.
It can be assumed that the widespread use of such charging stations will allow automakers to eliminate the need for high-capacity batteries, which will have a beneficial effect not only on the weight of electric vehicles but also on their price.
