In China, a kebab shop salesman has been accepting ritual money from a grandmother instead of real money for seven years

A story from Zaozhuang City, Shandong Province. The video shows an elderly woman paying at a kebab shop with ritual money intended as an offering to the dead. Despite the bills having no real value, the vendor accepts them without complaint and gives her food.

According to kebab shop owner Liu Ruize, the grandmother has been coming to him for seven years. Sometimes she gives ritual money, sometimes children's toy cards or change found on the street. When she has real 5-yuan bills, it means her son, who works in another city, has arrived and left her money. When she runs out, she comes back with fake money. The woman has rejected offers to simply take the food for free.

"She just wants something to eat. I'm happy with whatever payment she gives me." I'm not in big business, but of course I can afford to give her something to eat," he added.
