Diving in trash: a woman makes thousands of dollars from trash (1 photo + 2 videos)
American Tiffany Butler earns thousands of dollars a month scouring store dumpsters for discarded items. It was thanks to her search skills that she brought her family a wonderful Christmas.
This year, she plans to take her children—13-year-old daughter Mia, and two sons—12-year-old Blake and 11-year-old Ruxton—on vacation. She chose one of the largest indoor water parks in Texas, which involved some work.
"Trash diving is my 'job'; it's what finances our Christmas trip. Lately, I've been finding some really cool stuff. I earn about $3,000 to $4,000 a month," says the American woman.
Last year, she says, she took her children on a cruise, and this year, they decided to go to a resort in Texas. Tiffany says she feels incredibly lucky because she can "do such wonderful things for her family thanks to trash diving."
Besides the trip, Tiffany was able to find Christmas gifts for her children, saving about $200 by choosing only brand-new items. The mother of three has been "diving" for several years and sells the food, cosmetics, and electronics she finds.
Tiffany sorts found items into containers and then inspects them at home or in a warehouse. Once home, her husband, an electrician, helps with any necessary repairs.
Among the "treasures" she rescues from the trash can are expensive hair tools, aquariums, treadmills, cosmetics, and snacks. Overall, they sell about 75% of their finds, and the rest they keep or donate.
