Have you ever dreamed of soaring above the traffic jams on your way to work?

American company Alef Aeronautics claims it's getting closer to realizing that dream. They've launched production of the Alef Model A, the world's first fully functional flying car. Priced at approximately $314,000, this futuristic vehicle can both travel on roads and take off vertically thanks to hidden propellers, before transforming back into an electric car.

CEO Jim Duchovny announced that production is on track, and the first hand-built vehicles will soon be sent to early testers. Each unit takes several months to build, and flights under supervision will only be permitted under strict supervision. The Daily Mail reports that pre-orders worth over $1 billion have already been received.

This "movie" aircraft weighs only 385 kg. On the ground, it reaches a speed of 40 km/h and in flight, it reaches a speed of 177 km/h. There is space for a pilot and one passenger. According to the developers, learning to fly the aircraft takes just 15 minutes.
