Bentley presented the most powerful Flying Spur sedan in its history (14 photos)

Bentley has unveiled the Flying Spur sedan with a hybrid powertrain. The car has become noticeably more powerful, economical and dynamic, although it has not received any major changes in appearance. Sales of the electrified new product are planned to begin closer to the end of 2024.





The Flying Spur is equipped with a 4-liter V8 and an electric motor, which is used in a number of hybrids from the Volkswagen concern. In the case of Bentley, it is tuned to produce 782 hp and 1000 Nm - thus the sedan has become almost 20% more powerful than the previous Flying Spur with W12. The electric part of the power plant is powered by a 25.9-kilowatt battery. The four-door can travel on electric traction up to 76 kilometers with a maximum speed of 140 km/ h, the total power reserve is 829 km.

The electrified power plant added more than 200 kg to the weight. As a result, although the dynamics of the Flying Spur have noticeably improved, the maximum speed has become lower - 285 km/ h versus 333 km/ h for the previous version of the Speed. However, Bentley believes that this loss is fully compensated by the possibility of daily trips without an internal combustion engine.

The chassis has new air springs in combination with adaptive two-valve shock absorbers tuned for more comfortable movement. The sedan retained the steerable rear wheels and all-wheel drive with an electronically controlled rear differential lock. Active stabilizers and a traction vector control system are also included.

You can distinguish the super-powerful hybrid Flying Spur from the previous version by the new radiator grille, modified aerodynamic plumage and fresh 22-inch wheels. There are almost no external changes in the cabin, but there are improvements in technology. The media system received a more advanced shell, the climate control system was supplemented with an ionizer, and more comfortable Welness seats appeared among the additional equipment. They are able to automatically regulate the microclimate using heating and ventilation systems based on the readings of built-in temperature sensors.

The Flying Spur with a V8 and an electric motor will take the place of the previous version of the Speed. In the future, the updated sedan will have a more affordable "standard" version with a power plant based on a 6-cylinder engine. There will be no more purely gasoline Flying Spurs. Bentley is systematically electrifying its lineup, and abandoned the production of the famous W12 back in the summer.
