1. Heinrich Gogarten, "Sunset over a Winter Forest" (1881)



Heinrich Gogarten (1850-1911) was a 19th-century German landscape painter, famous for his winter landscapes. He was born in Linz am Rhein and studied at the Düsseldorf Academy of Arts under the renowned Oswald Achenbach. Most of his works are now held in private collections.

24. Illustrations by Australian artist Ida Rentoul Outhwaite (1888-1960)



Outhwaite created her works primarily using pen and ink and watercolor. Her first illustration was published in New Idea magazine in 1903, when she was only 15 years old. It accompanied a story written by her older sister, Annie Rattray Rentoul. Over the following years, the sisters co-wrote several more stories.
