In China, a woman attempted to smuggle 1 kg of live bamboo worms
At the airport customs checkpoint in China's Yunnan Province, officers noticed a woman—her gait and the "unusual" appearance of her lower body aroused suspicion. Upon inspection, she was found to be carrying over a kilogram of live bamboo worms, a local delicacy that fetched high prices at the market.
It was later discovered that she was accompanied by two other people, also carrying live insects: one woman hid 2 kg of worms in a stocking around her waist, and the other had several bags of them in her backpack and pockets.
Inspectors detained all three—the worms were banned from import, as live animals are prohibited. A scandal quickly erupted on social media: many were upset by the smuggling attempt, especially the unconventional method. Users emphasize that the regulations exist for a reason—and "hiding a delicacy in your pants" is clearly not the best solution.
