China detains man and woman who destroyed backhoe section of the Great Wall of China. Couple being interrogated She said she wanted to take a shortcut to work. 
Local residents cause irreparable damage in Shanxi province section of the Chinese wall. They dug a 5-meter hole in it. 
A man and a woman admitted that they worked at a construction site nearby and decided to save on travel by creating a new the road, so to speak, is not a detour. Apparently, they were in a hurry to return to work days. The ruined site was erected more than five centuries ago - during the Ming Dynasty, from 1368 to 1644.
