An Australian showed how he catches carnivorous sandworms on the beach
A guy captured a video of himself catching Australian beach worms on the beach. These creatures can grow up to three meters.
YouTube user under the nickname Tightlinez published a video in which he catches strange creatures using a piece of fish. The Australian brings the bait to the sand, and after a while it is grabbed by a worm with many shoots at its head. The author of the video then pulls it out of the sand and shows it to the camera.
The video features worms of the genus Australonuphis, also called Australian beach worms. They belong to the annelids and can grow up to three meters. Their body is divided into hundreds of segments. Also, worms of this species have very sharp teeth. They live in the sand on the coasts of the Australian states of Queensland, New South Wales and South Australia. According to the Fisheries Association of Australia, there are millions of these worms across the continent. Local fishermen consider them good bait.
