Argentine company Iconic Auto Sport has unveiled the SP40 (Special Speedster) sports car, a self-developed concept. The roadster features a hot rod style, with its exterior design intended to evoke the 1934 Ford Model 40. This hot rod, powered by a 5.0-liter V8, is planned for limited production, and orders are now open, though pricing has not yet been announced.
Despite the obvious nods to 1930s Fords in its design, the SP40 does not incorporate any parts from these rare cars. The hot rod is based on a custom chassis developed in Argentina, with double-wishbone suspension on adjustable coilovers and a spaceframe.
The new model is equipped with a fairly large engine – a Ford Coyote V8, which, with a displacement of 5.0 liters, is tuned to produce 480 horsepower. The engine is mated to a five-speed manual transmission. The SP40 is also quite lightweight thanks to the extensive use of carbon fiber in the body structure. The sports car tips the scales at 1,190 kilograms. Brembo brakes are responsible for stopping power.
The demo model has a black exterior and a vintage interior trimmed in brown leather, but Iconic Auto Sport noted that customer cars can be customized in any color.
