Tourists' luggage ended up overboard on a ferry in Thailand (3 photos + 1 video)

An Australian tourist accused the crew of a Thai ferry of incompetence after her luggage was washed out to sea. Alice Zamparelli was traveling from Koh Tao to Koh Samui when she saw her belongings overboard.





The traveler showed dozens of suitcases and backpacks bobbing in the waves as the ferry continued on its route.

Zamparelli captioned her video: "We lost all our luggage due to the crew's incompetence."

The luggage, stowed on the upper deck, wasn't properly secured. Due to bad weather conditions, it fell into the water.

Alice managed to get 50,000 baht. She added, "We were very persistent."

"Some people didn't receive compensation, while others missed their flights entirely," noted the Perth resident.



"The ferry staff were sure the suitcase couldn't be worth more than 20,000 baht. In reality, our belongings, including the suitcase, would have cost 100,000 baht." Everything is much cheaper in Thailand than, say, Australia. So when we explained the real cost of luggage, they almost laughed in our faces."



"We spent a lot of time convincing and arguing, and in the end they had to pay us. We got more than everyone else, but it's still not enough," Alice added.

The only reason for such "generous" compensation was that the tourist refused to leave the ferry and was harassing the people responsible for the incident.

The journey between the eastern islands of Koh Tao and Koh Samui is known for its challenging conditions, especially during the rainy season.
