Congo's Mines Minister and other members of his delegation experienced several harrowing moments.
"The plane skidded off the runway while landing at Kolwezi Airport. Moments later, the plane burst into flames," an adviser to the minister reported.
About 20 passengers were evacuated without injury, but their luggage was damaged.
The delegation, led by the minister, arrived in the region to inspect the progress of rescue efforts at the mine, where more than 30 people died in a collapse.
