Roshin Ali of Jackson, Tennessee, ran away from home as a teenager. Years later, she fell in love with a police officer who was involved in her search.
The girl ran away from home at age 13, fearing for her life. At the time, her father threatened the family, and police began searching for the missing girl. Among the officers was Tyler Schrupp, the man with whom fate would reunite Ali 12 years later, according to the New York Post.
Having returned to normal life, the adult Rosheen found work at the sheriff's department. There, she first met Schrupp, unaware that he had once been involved in her rescue.
"He kept looking at me, but he didn't say a word," recalls 28-year-old Ali.
Tyler himself admitted that he thought she was very beautiful and that he felt awkward talking to her. When the two began talking, Ali opened up about her past, and the officer realized he had once been looking for her.
"We compared dates and places, and I realized: I was part of this story. It's incredible – I was looking for her then, and now we're together," he said.
In her TikTok videos, which have garnered millions of views, Roshin described how her childhood was marked by violence. She said her father, a gambling addict, threatened to kill the family. On the day she ran away, he beat her sister and tried to attack her mother.
Roshin and her brother escaped by jumping out a window. The next day, they were found and placed in a foster home.
"If we hadn't escaped then, we wouldn't have survived," she says.
Now Ali and Schrupp are engaged and raising a five-month-old son. Their story went viral after a video of Ali shaking hands with a police officer, captioning it: "The officer who was looking for me when I went missing."
The post garnered over 5 million views and touched the hearts of users.
"Someone wrote that he was my hero. And it's true," says Ali.
