Huawei has taught a car audio system to play different music in the front and back at the same time (1 photo)

Spoiled by the technology race and price wars, Chinese buyers of locally developed cars will be able to enjoy an interesting innovation offered by Huawei to future owners of the flagship Maextro S800 sedan. They will be able to listen to different music in the first and second rows simultaneously, without disturbing each other.

Technically, this is ensured by a 43-speaker sound system and a spatial sound function, which Huawei unabashedly calls 4D. The Chinese giant collaborates with JAC on the production of vehicles under the Maextro brand, and is therefore responsible for the electronics and software in this alliance.

Dual amplifiers with a total output of 2920 watts are combined with 43 speakers, including 10 channels for ceiling audio, effectively offering separate sound stages for front and rear passengers, 99% isolated from each other. According to Huawei, the isolation between the two cabin zones is measured at 30 dB. Technically, this allows for different music to be played for front and rear seat occupants, respectively, without the need for headphones or any other means of physically separating the spaces. Against this backdrop, the company's signature color music system, which controls the interior ambient lighting in sync with the music playing, seems like an underwhelming innovation, especially given the rich history of such technologies.
