Hairdresser left a client with a burn and demanded payment (4 photos)
In February, 18-year-old Kyrie Martin decided to dye her hair blonde. She was getting ready for prom. The American went to a beauty salon where she had been getting her hair dyed for the past four years. When the hairdresser covered her hair with foil, Kyrie felt a terrible burning sensation and rushed to the sink.
The hairdresser quickly removed the foil and saw that her hair was smoking. Martin was crying from the pain, but they didn’t forget to charge her $50 for the haircut.
Already in the hospital, it turned out that Kyrie had first-degree chemical burns. A few days later, doctors removed the dead skin, leaving the girl with a bald spot where hair will most likely not grow back.
The North Carolina native had never experienced poor-quality coloring before. She had been visiting the salon for years, and the reviews were good.
"She took foil to lighten her hair. An hour later, my head was burning," the girl said. She admitted that she had never experienced such pain before.
"I told her that my head was burning unbearably, and I started crying. She started washing off the dye and removing the foil, and then I saw her eyes widen. The hairdresser said, "I don't know what happened, but your hair is smoking."
The hairdresser didn't charge for the coloring, but asked for the haircut. The girl left the salon in tears.
"It took a long time to heal. It took time for the skin to recover. It took two months for the wound to close," Kyrie shares. "It's been six months now, but the bald spot is still there. There will probably be no hair."
The girl showed up to prom with a bandage on her head.
"I was in a lot of physical and mental pain," she said.
Martin noted that the hairdresser did not call her after the incident.
"If she was that upset, she should have contacted us. I left the salon in tears," she added.
