An American walked along the beach in northern Florida (USA) and looked for sea turtle nests. Instead, he came across a package wrapped in black foil containing 32 kilograms of cocaine worth almost four million dollars.
The man handed over the drugs to the police, who were also surprised by the discovery.
"This is a very rare incident in Nassau County. Many years ago there were bales of marijuana washed up on the beach, but as far as I know, this is more the exception than the rule," Sheriff Bill Leeper said.
It is reported that all the packages had an image of an eagle, the heraldic symbol of the United States. Smugglers often transport cocaine through the Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico using ships, marking their packages with unique designs for identification.
The attackers probably threw the cocaine overboard on purpose.
“They were probably on a boat that the police or coast guard pulled up and just threw it ashore,” Leeper added.
By the way, other vacationers also noticed the find.
“We were looking for shark teeth, but their cost is not comparable to the price of other things washed up on the shore. However, we need shark teeth,” says tourist Paula Jones from South Carolina.
