A man has been trying to get his lottery winnings for 20 years (5 photos)

According to Australian Robert Clemett, many years ago he won £2 million in the lottery. However, he lost his ticket and reported it only four years later. For more than 20 years he has been trying to get his money.





Australian resident Robert Clemett claimed to have won £2 million in the lottery but lost the winning ticket. For more than 20 years now, the man has been trying to get this money, but he has not succeeded. It all started with the fact that in 1997 a jackpot was drawn in Australia, which supposedly no one won. However, four years later, Robert Clemett began to claim that he was the lucky winner - this happened after a program was broadcast in 2001 about unclaimed lottery winnings. The man wrote to the lottery company to say that the winning ticket belonged to him, but he lost it while moving.



Robert was not alone. In addition to him, 50 more people called that company, claiming that they were the owners of the winning ticket. He later filed a claim against NSW Lotteries, but in 2014 a judge dismissed it because the man allegedly had little evidence. According to the judge, the man was insistent that he was the one who won the lottery and “appeared to have convinced himself of this for several years.”





Klemett did not give up on the matter: five years later, he wrote posts on social networks, venting his anger that he had not been paid his winnings. He wrote that he “begs” the court to reconsider the verdict and bring justice. So far, no one is still going to return his money.



There is also a real story of a man who won the lottery but lost his ticket. It was Martin Tott who won £3 million - but he didn't realize he had picked the winning numbers until six months later. By then the ticket had already disappeared. Although the man was able to prove that he bought it, he was left without winnings - it turns out that the ticket had to be registered as lost within 30 days.
