A man began to draw terrible portraits of townspeople and became famous (8 photos)
A resident of the American state of Illinois began to paint terrifying portraits of passers-by for five dollars and became famous throughout the country.
26-year-old Jacob Ryan Reno from Chicago began painting portraits on the street in May. Every Sunday, he sets up a table at the farmers market in Logan Square and sets up an advertising stand with the inscription: "Terrifying portraits. Five dollars. Terrible five minutes."
The man draws portraits of those who wish with black crayons and ballpoint pens on white paper. His works most resemble the drawings in the notebook of an inept schoolboy. However, because of this feature, they quickly became famous among the townspeople.
"I was trying not to look at the horror he was doing to my face. But when he turned the portrait around, it was so funny. I laughed for about five minutes," said Victoria Lonergan. She used to work at an advertising agency with Renaud, and then decided to check out his new occupation.
The American said that he first created a "terrible portrait" at a party in 2018. Then he and his friend got drunk, decided to draw each other and it turned out very funny. In the spring of 2024, Reno accidentally found photos from that party on a social network and thought that this type of painting could become popular.
In May, he began regularly painting portraits on the streets and really quickly became famous. Now people line up to see him in a terrible state. Many of his models frame the portraits and hang them at home.
Renaud claims that in his portraits he does not strive to accurately convey the appearance of a person, but tries to capture the essence of their personality. However, the most important thing for the artist is to make his model laugh when he shows the finished work. According to Renaud, not a single person has complained about his portrait yet. After the American's work was featured in the media, he gained fans all over the country.
