Why Well-Adjusted Men Should Never Date These Types of Women (38 Photos)

No one can calculate the trajectory of a star without first being shown how it's done. Relationships work much the same way—people simply replicate the behavioral patterns they learned in their childhood home. If someone grew up in a toxic environment, they will recreate those exact dynamics in their own adult life, over and over again, if only to finally come out on top. That, at least, is what psychologists tell us.

If you're a well-adjusted guy looking for a healthy partner, this article is for you. Here are the red flags of women who are completely incapable of building a healthy relationship.

1. Desperately obsessed with getting married. She usually masks this downright desperate desire behind poetic, high-minded phrases like: "I just want to give my whole self to someone," "I want to lose myself in him," or "Mutual understanding is everything to me." The line separating this desperate bridezilla from an emotionally healthy woman is paper-thin, making it almost impossible to spot at first. My personal test: a well-adjusted woman will never bring up marriage first, nor will she spout dramatic, flowery clichés about it. Sure, tenderness and trust are great, but the grand, solemn tone with which she preaches about them should raise major red flags for any sensible guy.

2. She's a single mother. In many cases, she’ll go to great lengths to hide it. I once dated a woman who was genuinely smart and stunning, and she was head over heels for me—but, alas, I can't stand sneaky manipulators, and I don't give them second chances.

3. The forced "independent woman" routine comes off as pathetic—constantly arguing over petty stuff, stubbornly defending her stance, refusing to listen, process advice, or compromise when necessary. This behavior usually means she carries a massive mountain of baggage—past relationship drama, career stress, health issues... And mark my words, it's only going to get worse.

4. Pushing for an immediate meetup on the very first call, anywhere and anytime that suits you. Why the sudden desperation? Is she trying to rush you into solving her problems? A woman shouldn't be chasing a man down to hang out—it lacks grace. The feminine move is to let the man take the lead and invite her out. If she's pushing, she’s carrying serious issues.

5. Secretive about the most harmless things. A healthy woman is genuine and responds in kind when approached with sincerity. Most women tend to mirror the energy you bring to the table, and honestly, that’s part of their charm. But when someone is inherently shady and pathologically dishonest, it’s a clear sign of deep-seated insecurities or worse. Run.

6. Over-sharing brutally aggressive "truths" right out of the gate, with a chip on her shoulder: "Yeah, I'm 27. Yeah, I'm 5'3" and 130 lbs." So what? Classic overcompensation for deep insecurities. Watch: her next line will inevitably be, "Does that define who I am as a person?" Well, actually, yes! Cut her loose now, or you’ll pay for it later. Join the ranks of sensible guys who dodged that bullet.

7. She talks endlessly about herself without asking a single thing about you. Red flag. Healthy communication is always a two-way street.

8. A woman with a terrible personality will constantly contrast herself against you. Say you mention you love ski trips. A balanced woman will react positively to your passions. A toxic one will immediately shoot it down or turn it into a competition: "Ugh, I hate that," "How weird, I could never," "Well, I prefer..." "Not for me..." That alone is enough to diagnose her vibe. It sounds subtle, but it's one of the most reliable tests out there. Proven time and again.

9. Claims she’s currently seeing someone, but "it’s pretty much over and they barely talk anyway." A classy woman handles things differently: if she's moving on, she discreetly cuts ties with her ex without dragging her new interest into unnecessary drama. I’ve always preferred tactful, considerate women. How about you?

10. Loves bringing up her exes. It reveals a shallow personality. She's trying to boost her ego, masked in insecurity, clueless about how disrespectful it is to her new partner—or worse, she knows exactly what she's doing and is playing mind games on purpose.

11. She's deep in depression over a breakup with her "one true love" and her heart is shattered. Naturally, some white knights will rush in, sacrificing their pride, energy, and sanity to play emotional caretaker. But their reward is grim: once her heart heals, she will forever associate that guy with a dark, miserable period in her life. He’ll never be taken seriously as a partner. Fellas, avoid these emotional rehab assignments at all costs!

12. Still lives with a long-divorced mother. The devoted mom sacrificed her own happiness to raise her darling daughter... and on a subconscious level, the daughter has zero intention of ever leaving her side. Any attempt on your part to move her out will be viewed as an attack—she’ll see you as the villain trying to condemn her poor mother to a lonely old age.

13. Hates her mother, or both of her parents. Naturally (since it all comes in one package), she also despises everything traditionally linked to home life—cooking, cleaning, keeping order, or domestic comfort... And, predictably, she can't stand kids either. Either she's bogged down by massive insecurity and baggage—and you’ll drown in her dark unresolved trauma—or she's lying to project an unbothered image (so you don't suspect she's secretly plotting to drag you to the altar, which might be even worse).

14. Pathologically terrified of losing her virginity (assuming she's past 20). She brings it up right during your first conversation. She likely harbors a deep ambivalence: wanting to lose it and fearing it at the same time. To her, her virginity is treated like a guaranteed ticket to a successful future relationship. It’s a purely neurotic obsession—a psychological anchor that feeds her sense of moral superiority.

What happens next is predictable. Once she finally loses it, that entire neurotic fixation gets transferred onto something else—she can't just let it dissolve! She needs a new obsession, and that new target will undoubtedly be the guy who took it. Now she’ll be consumed by a frantic fear of losing *him*. One anxiety gets replaced by another, turning her into an insanely jealous partner who’ll suspect you of flirting with a lamppost. Deep down, that's just low self-esteem talking—something even charming guys like us deal with. :-)

15. Lost her virginity at 14 and has been living in the fast lane ever since. Second-hand goods. Let guys from her own crowd deal with that.

16. Owns more than two pets. It’s hard to explain, but it signals an overbearing need to nurture. One pet is plenty; two at most. Nothing happens by accident—if she rescued a third stray kitten because "it was freezing outside," the bottom line is still that she took it in while others walked past. Most people satisfy that nurturing urge naturally—say, with a husband. A hoard of pets means her caretaking impulse is hyper-fixated, consuming all her emotional bandwidth instead of reserving it for romance. Freudian psychoanalysis suggests she suffered emotional neglect in childhood. That leads to two outcomes: she’ll either be a neglectful mother herself or swing to the opposite extreme, obsessing entirely over her kids and ignoring you completely—making her a terrible wife.

She projects her maternal instinct onto her menagerie. When she looks for a partner, she’s not looking for a unique individual to love for who he is; she just needs a generic male co-actor to check off the family box. Feel the difference! On the surface, having a cat, a dog, and a parrot isn't a crime. But imagine trying to build a life inside a chaotic personal zoo she created and refuses to manage... That’s a sign of a warped mindset.

17. Never stays at home. Party girls gradually develop a scattered, unfocused mindset. Their demeanor reeks of laziness, narcissism, and unbearable elitism. It looks pathetic enough in men, but in women, it’s completely unrecoverable. It's common in these high-society circles to brag openly about which celebrity's son or grandson they slept with—and how he performed in bed. Profanity is practically treated as a mark of sophistication. On top of that, women in this scene unironically describe themselves as "bad bitches" or "absolute queens," claiming a queen shouldn't be expected to stay faithful. If a woman calls herself an "absolute queen" right during your first chat, it means one of two things: she's either hunting for a billionaire prince to match her inflated ego, or she lacks any realistic self-awareness.

18. Hardcore into martial arts (taekwondo, karate, etc.) or spent years practicing them in the past. It’s not just a physical skill—it’s a discipline that reshapes how a person thinks. Power seeks outlet in confrontation, or at least in constantly picking fights over minor things. Sure, it might make her seem intriguing at first, but living with someone like that is a whole different story...

19. Her entire conversation revolves around fashion, shopping sprees, and new designer collections. It signals an empty mind and an overinflated ego. Mind you, this applies to any obsession. If she's fixated on one single topic to the exclusion of all else, it's a major flaw. Obsessions in general are bad news...

20. Total neglect of her appearance; proudly refuses to wear makeup or put effort into dressing well. She’ll proudly proclaim, "I don't care what I wear," as if basic self-care were some evil social construct. This usually stems from either rock-bottom insecurity or delusional arrogance. Her own internal self-image matters far more to her than how the real world perceives her. She lives in a fantasy bubble, indifferent to social cues, which usually means she lacks empathy and struggles to understand people around her.

21. Tacky clothes or trashy makeup—a complete lack of taste that will bleed into every area of her life. Loud, cackling laugh that sounds like a braying donkey. Some author (I forget who) once noted that a person's laughter reveals their true character better than anything else. You can fake a posture, an expression, or a voice tone, but a real laugh is unscripted. It exposes someone down to their core—including red flags that won't surface until much later.

22. Her exes come from completely different social strata. If she casually mentions her ex was a truck driver, a bouncer, a bodyguard, a waiter, or a mobster, we are worlds apart and won't hit it off. The exact same applies if her exes were corporate CFOs, high-powered lawyers, or wealthy business owners... or if she exclusively dated specific cultural backgrounds outside your world.

23. Works in real estate (realtor, broker, etc.). High-stakes commission jobs with erratic, massive payouts create chronic mental instability. The relentless thrill of chasing the next big deal turns into a compulsive obsession—not unlike substance addiction. Watch how her eyes light up and her posture shifts whenever big money is mentioned. It’s unnerving. Loving money is normal; this level of financial frenzy is unhealthy. This applies to any commission-driven high-gambling hustle.

24. Schoolteacher (not to be confused with a university professor). First off, they tend to become narrow-minded over time. Wouldn't you lose your edge if you spent years repeating basic lesson plans to kids day in and day out? Second, teachers eventually start talking to their partners like they're unruly students—nagging, lecturing, and correcting minor mistakes. Most women have a bit of that, but schoolteachers take it to insufferable heights. Even women's magazines run warnings telling teachers to leave their classroom persona at the door. Third, she’ll spend every evening grading homework, meaning zero quality time or spontaneous dates.

On top of that, a school faculty lounge is a total viper's nest. They're usually single or bitter divorcees, trapped in endless drama, gossiping, and vying for the attention of the single male gym teacher. Imagine what spending years in that atmosphere does to a woman's personality... Female-dominated workplaces are notoriously toxic, with nunneries topping the chart (laugh all you want, but I know from personal experience).

25. Aggressive toward the world: creates scenes everywhere over trivial things, picks fights with cashiers, and demands to "speak to the manager." It stems from a toxic, volatile personality. You can't fix a woman’s underlying character, so don't even try. Early on, she’ll hide her true colors to fit your ideal—often unconsciously (if she does it deliberately, she's a sociopath). But no one can keep up a facade forever, and eventually the mask slips.

26. Obsessed with a hobby to the point of fanatical fixation—stamp collecting, gaming, gym culture, travel, or online networking. Any obsession in a woman turns into a major headache in a relationship. (Side note: in men, passion often makes them more compelling—excluding addictions, of course). Obsessive devotion, like attending every single concert of her favorite band, often points to a lack of depth.

27. Can't keep basic promises. She promises to call and never does, then doesn't even bother to apologize. Something shady is going on—either she's seeing someone else or she lacks basic manners, which usually points to a flakey mindset. (Carl Jung wrote about this lack of moral consideration in his psychiatric works, which is why I appreciate his perspective.) A friend taught me a golden rule for this: if she flakes, never contact her again. Wait for her to reach out. If she has a conscience, she’ll call. If not, good riddance—there are plenty of respectful women out there. Great rule for boosting your own self-respect, by the way.

28. Aggressively anti-alcohol—refuses to touch a drop and gets visibly annoyed when anyone else drinks. In most cases, this points to a history with an alcoholic father, which created a deep-seated trauma around drinking. Bad family baggage paired with a controlling personality.

29. Obsessed with trashy pop culture, cheap TV, or trashy reality shows. Common sense should be matched by at least basic taste. Complete ignorance usually goes hand in hand with this—like not knowing basic vocabulary or having no idea who Dostoevsky was. Surprisingly common, unfortunately.

30. Overly reliant on her girl group, taking their advice as gospel. If she can't make a single decision without consulting her squad, her self-esteem is rock bottom. She's so insecure about making mistakes that she defers everything to her friends. Consequently, she becomes a puppet to their moods, bitterness, jealousy, and unresolved issues—yet trusts them blindly for reasons no man will ever understand.

31. Has zero female friends. Claims "female friendship is a myth" because women are inherently too jealous and competitive about men, money, looks, or careers to ever be genuinely loyal.

32. The most obvious dealbreakers: addicts, heavy drinkers, sex workers, heavy smokers—individually or in any combination.

33. Paranoid about pregnancy or STDs, bringing it up during your very first conversation. Interrogates you about your protection habits, body count, and partner history. A decent woman should have at least a modicum of tact.

34. Excessively rigid and demanding: dropping lines like "that's just your opinion," "I hate when people try to change me," or "tardiness is unacceptable," or mocking you. A woman should never say out loud, "A man shouldn't show up empty-handed on a date." It’s implied, but demanding it explicitly shows a lack of grace and manners—plain foolishness.

35. Aggressively pretentious and pseudo-intellectual. She's so enamored with her own mind that she can't hide it, looking down on "mere mortals" with insufferable arrogance.

36. Obsessed with esoteric spiritualism, astrology, extreme religion, or Ayurveda. She's completely brainwashed by beliefs built on placebo effects and confirmation bias. Anyone pragmatic is viewed as an "unawakened soul" in need of her guidance. Key buzzwords: "vibration," "astral," "energy," and especially "journey." She carries herself with an aura of smug enlightenment, as if she holds the secrets of the cosmos.

37. Decoding the female dating dictionary—what her favorite dating profile phrases actually mean:

"I'm a romantic soul" — Emotionally volatile; likely grew up in a broken home.

"I don't know what I'm looking for" — Same thing.

"Looking for a mature man" — Wants someone to fund her life, cater to her moods, or ideally both.

"I want someone who understands me" — She wants an obedient yes-man.

"I hate when people try to change me" — Stubborn with zero willingness to compromise.

"Looking for true love" — Desperate to get married.

"I’ve been ready for marriage for a while" — All her friends are married and her mom is pressuring her. She isn't actually ready; otherwise she'd be married already—it’s not that hard for a woman to pull off.

"I don't want to get married" — Wants it so badly she's terrified of failing at it. Women often say the exact opposite of what they actually want, with zero logical consistency. Moving on...

"I only attract jerk guys"/ "I've been unlucky in love" — Carries major baggage: anger issues, toxic parents, unresolved drama, etc.

"I'm an absolute queen" — Narcissistic, self-absorbed, incapable of empathy.

"I love sex" — Overconfident about her body, shallow, slightly materialistic.

"A man should know how to unwind" — Must have enough cash to pay for luxury vacations for her.

"A man should never get comfortable" — High-maintenance and financially demanding.

"A man needs ambition" — High-maintenance, ambitious for your paycheck.

"A man needs to be a Real Man" — Materialistic, demanding, and boring.

"A man should..." — Any sentence starting with this phrase is an immediate red flag. She's entitlement incarnate.

"Dreaming of a Real Man" — Shallow, status-obsessed, easily influenced by peer pressure.

"Looking for a strong alpha male" — Domineering and likely to cheat once she gets bored.

"Loyalty is everything" — Insecure and paranoid about being cheated on (probably been burned before).

"Kindness matters most" — Looking for a push-over or a walking wallet.

"Family is my #1 priority" — Same as above, plus dull personality.

"Spiritual growth is key" — Insecure, lost in fake mysticism, and painfully boring.

"I know I'm gorgeous" — Vain, usually shallow, and unreliable (as Stendhal noted).

"I want to make someone happy" — Translation: She wants to grace your life with her demands, her mother, and her dog.

"I respect independence" — She wants an open pass to flirt around. Playful claims of being a "sinner" fit here too. (Unless said deadpan, which means religious fanatic).

"Men only want one thing!" — *Translation:* "He likes me, yay!"

"You men are all the same" (flirty) — *Translation:* "Go ahead, make a move!"

"You men are all the same" (angry) — *Translation:* "How dare he not fall for me?!"

"Honey, sex isn't everything in a relationship" — *Translation:* "I'm not attracted to him, but why lose the free housing and perks?"

"Looks don't matter, it's the soul that counts" or "Money doesn't matter, it's the soul that counts."

These speeches usually come from women who exclusively target male models and wealthy sugar daddies. If you hear this pitch, dollars to donuts she was recently dumped by a high-roller. As a friend of mine used to say: "Once a woman gets a taste of the passenger seat in a luxury car, she’s never taking the bus with you again."

Based on the book *99 Red Flags: Women You Should Never Date* by Behemoth the Cat.
