A new generation prosthetic that the brain considers a native leg
Scientists at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology are testing a new bionic prosthesis. This prosthesis integrates directly into the bone and muscles, allowing a person to feel that the new "leg" is truly their own.
MIT scientists are testing a bionic prosthesis that is implanted into the bone and connected to the muscles like a natural limb.
Unlike conventional prostheses, which are inserted into a socket, this one literally grows together with the tissues and becomes part of the body, thanks to which movements are almost as smooth and precise as in the case of a healthy leg.
The technology is currently being tested on a couple of patients, and they plan to receive permission for mass operations within five years.
