Mazda presented a new generation of the Mazda CX-5 crossover (34 photos)

Over the 13 years of production, the compact Mazda CX-5 SUV has gradually become the main model of the Japanese brand, making a significant contribution to the extremely commercially successful 2024. And since the CX-5 is tasked with at least not giving up the positions it has won, it was decided not to make any radical changes to the successor.





The crossover presented on July 10 in the favorite Soul Red color has acquired a modernized body: in the same proportions, with a long hood, but in a new design, with sharpened front optics and stepped DRLs, which, unlike other peers, harmoniously fit into the sculptural contours of the front.

As expected, the dimensions have grown. The wheelbase has increased by 76 mm, as a result of which the length of the CX-5 at 4.73 meters is equal to the Honda CR-V and Nissan Rogue, for example. This made it possible to increase the volume of the trunk, add knee room for rear passengers and, at the same time, make the doorways more spacious. Optionally available are 19-inch wheels and a panoramic roof.

The engine has remained the same for now: a 4-cylinder naturally aspirated 2.5 with an output of 187 hp and 200 Nm, aggregated with a 6-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive already in the standard configuration. In 2027, Mazda will offer customers a gasoline-electric version of the CX-5. Unlike the brand's current hybrids, which are built on Toyota technologies, the new product is being developed within the walls of Mazda. The electric superstructure will work with a fresh Skyactiv-Z engine, which is predicted to have very high efficiency.

Of course, the CX-5 received a proprietary set of driver assistants in its latest version. Unfortunately, there are almost no buttons left on the dashboard and next to the gearshift lever, since the control of interior functions is now either on the steering wheel or on the 15.6-inch touchscreen - the largest among all Mazdas to date. The multimedia system uses a new user interface with Google Built-In technology, supplemented by Google Assistant, Maps, and other applications.

Mazda dealers will receive the new product somewhere from the end of 2025. Prices for the 2026 CX-5 are expected to increase, but not by much. In the United States, the amount is said to be within $ 32 thousand with all fees.
