In Michigan, a bear was rescued from "plastic captivity" (4 photos + 1 video)
The charming black bear living in the forests of Michigan has been dubbed by Americans as a true hero of patience and fortitude. For almost two years, the clubfoot bear has been forced to wear a plastic lid from a large barrel around his neck.
The story began in the spring of 2023, when a curious bear cub first caught the eye of scientists on one of the surveillance cameras. The experts tried to figure out where such a heavy thing came from and decided to follow the fate of the poor fellow. But the elusive young bear stubbornly refused to catch the scientists' eye again.
The bear did not give up and continued to live a normal life, despite his heavy weight and serious damage to the skin around his neck.
However, fate recently smiled on our little hero. Cameras caught him again - an adult bear with the same ill-fated cap on his neck. Scientists immediately organized an operation to free the animal from the "necklace". Thanks to a special trap, the bear was caught and rescued from the plastic hell.
The freed bear was examined by veterinarians, who noted that the animal looked much more cheerful and healthy than expected. Although the skin on the neck was seriously damaged, the predator itself showed amazing calm and optimism, demonstrating incredible fortitude and adaptability.

Wildlife expert Cody Norton admitted that no one knew for sure how the lid ended up on the bear. Perhaps the young explorer accidentally stuck his head into the open container and got stuck.
One question remains open: how does the bear sleep all winter with this complicated neck necklace? We will never know the answer.
