After a stupid prank, tourists fled the museum, whose employees later called them idiots on social media.
A trip to a museum for an elderly couple of tourists in Verona turned into a major fiasco. According to media reports, the couple waited a long time for the attendant to leave the hall to take a photo. A very corpulent man wanted to take a photo on the expensive and richly decorated with Swarovski crystals "Van Gogh chair" by the Italian artist Nicola Bolla, which in turn is a copy of the painting by the Dutch artist "Vincent's chair". When the attendant left, the man tried to sit on the chair, but as soon as he touched it with his butt, its legs broke.
After the incident, the couple fled the museum, pretending that nothing had happened. The staff of the Palazzo Maffei museum published a video and dedicated an angry post to them, calling them idiots.
"What you just saw is not a joke, but an episode that really happened in the halls of Palazzo Maffei. Superficial and disrespectful behavior has compromised the integrity of a work of art: the Van Gogh chair by artist Nicola Bolla was damaged by visitors who, after waiting for security to leave, decided to take a “spectacular” photo, ignoring all the rules of respect for art and cultural heritage,” the museum reported.
The museum also noted that for several days they were sure that the chair could not be restored, but the restorers eventually performed a miracle. It is not reported whether the tourists will be held accountable.

Meanwhile, commentators advise the museum to leave the chair broken - as a work of modern art, and also to rename the installation “The Weight of Idiocy.”
