A bull chased jaguars off the road in Brazil
A tourist group witnessed an unusual scene. A Nelor bull chased two jaguars off the road.
The incident was captured on video by biologist Paula Ojeda. She came across the unusual scene while driving a group of tourists through a nature reserve in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul. The video shows a bull walking along the road, with two large cats blocking his path. The bull did not stop and continued moving towards the jaguars. The predators began to retreat, and the Nelor accelerated, lowered his head and chased them off the road into the bushes.
Ojeda claims that the jaguars named Itapira and Formoso were in the bull's path. "Itapira burned her paws during a recent forest fire. She was released into the reserve after treatment," the biologist explained.
She also noted that the cats did not attack due to the habituation effect. It's a psychological effect where animals gradually become less responsive to non-threatening stimuli when they are constantly exposed to them.
"I didn't think the jaguars would attack the bull because they had just mated. I've seen other jaguars do that before. But the bull just kept walking forward, and I was really surprised when he ran at them," Ojeda told What's the Jam.
