She Was Once Called "The Hairiest Teenager in the World," But Today She Looks Completely Different (5 photos)

Ten years after her Guinness World Record, Supatra “Nat” Sasuphan has gone hairless. The 24-year-old from Thailand suffers from Ambras syndrome, a rare form of hypertrichosis sometimes called “werewolf syndrome.” The condition causes excessive hair growth and “dysmorphic facial features.”





There have only been 50 known cases of the condition since the Middle Ages, Guinness World Records said, giving Supatra the title of “world’s hairiest teenager.”

After winning the award in 2010, she shared, "I don't feel different from others. I have many friends at school. My hair makes me special. Today is the happiest day of my life!"



Doctors tried to remove the hair that covered most of her face, as well as her ears, arms, legs, and back, with a laser. But it kept growing, becoming thicker.

According to her father, Sammrueng, Supatra embraced her uniqueness and was a confident child as a child.

In 2012, he told Today: "We want people to understand that she's just a normal little girl."





Supatra said she has come to terms with her condition, but still hopes for a future cure.

"A few people used to tease me and call me monkey face, but they don't do that anymore," she said as a schoolgirl. "I can't feel my hair, but sometimes it's hard to tell when it's too long. I hope I can be cured someday."



Although she couldn't get rid of the disease, Supatra found a way to cope with it. Since 2018, she regularly shaves her face.

In the photos on social networks, the Thai woman looks unrecognizable. She shared new photos with her chosen one, whom she has been dating for seven months.
