An iconic house in Seattle, USA, is back on the market for $799,000. Exactly one hundred years have passed since the woman erected this building to take revenge on her husband. At its narrowest point, the building is only 1.4 meters wide.

The wedge-shaped house, built in 1925 in the Montlake area of Seattle, is surprisingly compact. Only 79 square meters of living space and 4.57 meters at its widest point.

The two-bedroom, two-bathroom home has become a local landmark. The original owner is said to have built it in retaliation against her ex-husband for a land dispute. After a divorce, the woman received a small plot of 287 square meters and decided to build a structure to block the view of the front yard.

Emily Kenji purchased the famous property in 2019. She shared: “Unable to afford her own home, the original owner built this unique home, which has since become a Seattle legend.”

According to another version, the owner of the land intended to sell it to his neighbors, but he was offered a ridiculous amount of money, and he took revenge.

The house was first sold in 1983 for $50,000.

In recent years, the landmark has undergone a major reconstruction. Its former yellow facade has been replaced by an elegant gray color.

"This Spanish Revival home is located in Seattle's historic Montlake neighborhood," the listing reads. "It's 15 feet wide on one side and only 5 feet wide on the other."

The listing goes on to mention the many upgrades the two-story home has received, including a new roof, a modern hot water heater, and a kitchen.

"The upper level features a living room, bedroom, full bath, and kitchen. The lower level features a living room, bedroom, laundry room, full bath, and a separate entrance perfect for guests and renters."

During a YouTube tour of the home, Kenji noted that the unusual shape of the building doesn't pose any major problems.

"The bathroom is where New York comes to mind," she joked. “I mean, compared to New York, we’re just grateful there’s no toilet in the bedroom.”

Kenji called her home “a little piece of cheese.” At first, she was afraid it would feel like she was in a fishbowl, but she found that even the smallest spaces were cozy and not claustrophobic.
