Frank Sinatra's townhouse put up for sale for the first time (9 photos)

For the first time in more than 50 years, the house that belonged to legendary singer Frank Sinatra and actress Mia Farrow is up for sale. Real estate in New York will cost the buyer $4.45 million.

The townhouse, built in 1872 between Second and Third Avenues, was Sinatra's residence from 1963 to 1969 - before, during and after his short marriage to Farrow.

The couple met on a film set in 1964, when Sinatra was 49 and Farrow was 19. They married two years later in Las Vegas.

After the divorce, the singer sold the property.

"He wasn't planning on moving out, but he wanted to build a garage and they wouldn't let him," says Teymur Solomon, whose parents bought the house from Sinatra in 1969.

“This place and the story of this house is a classic American story. My family was oppressed everywhere, so my parents came to the United States to live free,” says Teymur. “They opened the doors of their home to other people fleeing persecution.”

The house became a haven for immigrants of all races and nationalities.

The man's family fled anti-Semitism: his mother fled Nazi-occupied France, and his father, born in Iraq, hid first in Iraq and then in Iran.

The townhouse has an area of 347 sq.m., 4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, and also a large basement.

In 1919, architect Frederick Sterner remodeled the house, removing the porch and adding a courtyard entrance and terracotta trim.

According to Taymur, Sinatra removed the stucco to give the house a more modern look. However, original features such as wood floors, stained glass windows and a fireplace remain.

Teymur's father was a doctor, and his mother was engaged in the trade in works of ancient Persian and Middle Eastern art, and the mansion reflected her profession.

“There was everything here - from icons to ancient Mesopotamian artifacts, Egyptian columns and modern art of the 20th century.”

“My father worked until he was 90 years old and treated everyone - from the Senegalese ambassador to the UN to a taxi driver - and then invited them to our home for dinner,” Solomon added.
