Huge waves storm a cruise liner
Cruise ship caught in storm with 12-metre waves off the coast of Antarctica.
12-metre waves have hit a cruise ship off the coast of Antarctica and have been captured on video. Footage of the chaos on board as the ship swayed has gone viral.
The video was filmed on board the Ocean Explorer, a ship operated by Quark Expeditions, by travel blogger Lesley Ann Murphy. The ship was sailing through the Drake Passage when the swaying occurred. The area is known for its harsh weather.
The footage shows the ship rocking dangerously on giant waves, which can be seen from the large windows. Passengers were advised to stay in their cabins as a precaution, but some were still wandering around the ship, swaying from side to side.
