In the town of Montgomery, located in the American state of Pennsylvania, local utility workers made "wavy" road markings, which should reduce the number of accidents due to drunk motorcyclists. At the same time, locals are surprised by this decision of officials.

Journalists write that local police and authorities constantly received reports from locals about the noise of traffic on Green Lane. It was there that unknown drivers most often violated the speed limit in their cars and motorcycles while drunk.

That's why, according to local officials, unusual zig-zag road markings were considered the best solution to prevent speeding on some streets in the municipality.

"Our highway safety officers and traffic engineers determined that this was the best course of action to keep local residents safe," Montgomery police wrote on Facebook*.

At the same time, local residents were shocked by the "result." At first they thought it was someone's very bad joke, but later the local authorities and the police explained why they took such a step.

According to the representative of the Montgomery executive committee Annette Long, they tried to take into account all the complaints of residents and the recommendations of the police on how to deal with drunk drivers. It was the constant speeding on Green Lane that forced them to take such measures.

Journalists write that at first they wanted to put "sleeping policemen" here, but due to the steep slope, this idea was abandoned. Subsequently, the police were offered to set up a permanent observation point, but the number of available resources did not allow the cops to do this, and that is why the "wavy" markings became the best solution.

At the same time, in the comments to the post of the local police, users were quite skeptical about this idea. In particular, some believe that even if a drunk driver sees such markings, his perception under the influence of alcohol may not work in favor of road users.

"I'm honestly shocked. I thought it was a joke, but after reading the comments, it doesn't seem like a joke," one person wrote.

A second user says that local officials decided to save on the police and video cameras, and therefore will essentially "steal" local funds for themselves.

"Why did they draw zigzag lines? People are supposed to go up this road and then down. How did they drive a car or a motorcycle? How is that even possible?" another correspondent was surprised.
