A 31-year-old Chinese man has completed a grueling 3,300-kilometer (2,100-mile) trek from his hometown to Lhasa, Tibet, facing incredible challenges that have aged his face by decades.
The hiker, known on social media as Liqi, began his odyssey on April 6 last year from the city of Jingzhou in the central province of Hubei. Almost a year later, on March 11, he finally reached his destination: the holy city of Lhasa in Tibet.
Throughout the entire journey, the desperate traveler walked, pulling a two-wheeled cart with the most essential things. His path lay through high mountain ranges, where he faced extreme challenges.
Twice, wild wolves appeared on his path, and once the cart with all his belongings fell into a ditch, which damaged the wheels. Then the traveler had to continue his journey hobbling.
When the adventurer returned home, no one recognized him. According to social media users who followed the man's adventures, he now looks at least 50 years old. Harsh weather conditions, physical exhaustion and a prolonged lack of basic hygiene left a visible mark on his body and face.
Despite all the difficulties, Liqi's story has inspired admiration from an online audience, who see his feat as a symbol of extraordinary fortitude and dedication to a dream.
