Kalinovskiy's regiment turned three years old

March 9 marks three years since the founding of the Kastus Kalinovsky Regiment. This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the regiment's Telegram channel.

"Today (March 9 - ed.) marks three years since the formation of the Belarusian unit in the Armed Forces of Ukraine," the note says.

On March 9, 2022, the Kastus Kalinovsky Battalion was formed from Belarusian volunteers. At first, the battalion defended Kyiv. In May 2022, the battalion was transformed into a regiment.

Since then, the unit has passed through the hottest spots of the Russian-Ukrainian war: Bucha, Irpen, Nikolaev, Kherson, Severodonetsk, Lisichansk, Zaporozhye, Bakhmut, Kharkov, Kupyansk, Pokrovsk and many others.

"Dozens of the Regiment's soldiers gave their lives. Dozens were awarded state awards. The fight continues. For 3 years, Belarusian volunteers have been fighting side by side with Ukrainian soldiers for our and your freedom," the regiment added.

Kastus Kalinovsky Regiment - what is known?

It was formed from members of the Belarus tactical group, participants of the White Legion and Young Front, as well as other Belarusians who were not previously part of these formations. The formation also includes a group of volunteers of the Belarusian Black Cat.

On March 25, 2022, the battalion was included in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and the fighters took the oath

On May 21 of the same year, the battalion was reorganized into a regiment, which included the Litvin and Volat battalions.

Named after Kastus Kalinouski, one of the leaders of the January Uprising of Belarusians, Poles, Lithuanians and Ukrainians against the Russian Empire in 1863, a national hero of Belarus.

In Belarus, Kalinouski's regiment was recognized as a "terrorist organization".
