In China, rocket debris fell near a house

Terrified Chinese residents filmed two rocket boosters falling near a residential area. This happened several hours after the rocket was launched from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in the Chinese province of Sichuan.

Debris from a Long March 3B rocket launched from China's Xichang Satellite Launch Center on December 26 fell near a residential area several hours later. This caused panic among local residents, who filmed several videos of the incident. One of the pieces fell just a few meters from a house in the village of Baise (Guangxi Province).

Frightened residents gathered near the crash site in the village, deciding that it was a UFO. After the incident was reported, authorities began an investigation and confirmed that the unknown object was in fact a rocket fragment. The rocket itself is part of a satellite radio navigation system, for which the Chinese National Space Administration is responsible. It is unclear whether anyone was injured in the incident, but this is not the first such incident in China. In addition, before the launch on December 26, authorities warned that rocket debris could fall into the water, but did not mention the likelihood of it falling onto land.



When debris from a Chinese rocket crashed into the Indian Ocean in May 2022, even NASA chief Bill Nelson criticized China for "not meeting standards." According to him, China is obliged to minimize the risks to people and objects on Earth during repeated missile launches, and “ensure maximum transparency of these operations.”
