A woman crashed after slipping out of a paraglider harness (3 photos + 1 video)
Paulina Biskup, a 38-year-old Polish citizen, was on holiday with friends in Bogota, Colombia. On January 21, she took off on her last paragliding flight in the city of Roldanillo, known as the world capital of paragliding.
The tragic death of the woman was caught on video.
Paulina did not fasten her leg straps and slipped out of the harness. She fell from a great height into tall grass.
Rescuers arrived at the scene but were unable to revive her. According to media reports, the tourist died instantly after being hit hard on the ground.
A local official commented: "She probably did not fasten her seatbelts properly, which led to the fall."
Authorities are investigating the accident.
A native of Poland, she lived and worked in Dublin and graduated from Trinity College in 2010.
Roldanillo is known as the "paragliding capital" of Colombia due to its ideal conditions for the sport. The Aguapanela launch site is particularly popular, attracting tourists with its spectacular views and favorable air currents.
