New York police shared a record that was immediately destroyed (3 photos)
Fairytale city, dream city...
The official New York police social media account proudly announced a real breakthrough! There have been no shootings in the city for 5 days. And such a result has not been achieved for 30 years in a row.
Just think about it, last year in New York, on average, more than two shootings were registered per day.
And here the residents of New York were able to control themselves for so long. Cool! And one could congratulate them on that, if not for one thing. As soon as the official announcement of such a fabulous result appeared, just four minutes later a message was received that a 34-year-old man was shot several times in Brooklyn, the New York Post reports. What are you going to do! They jinxed themselves.
"This is the longest period without a shooting since the beginning of the CompStat era," the department said.
CompStat is a police management system created in 1994.
1994 was 30 years ago... Live with that thought now.
In an effort to reduce gun crime in the city, Mayor Eric Adams announced this week that the NYPD has seized more than 20,000 illegal firearms since he took office in 2022.
That number is about 3,000 more than the previous three-year period, officials said.
