Famous director and screenwriter David Lynch has passed away. The media has not reported the cause of Lynch's death, but it became known in the summer that he was diagnosed with emphysema. Since then, he has been using an oxygen tank and complained that he can no longer leave the house and begins to suffocate even after taking a few steps around the house. The director's death was announced by Lynch's family. The director was married four times. He is survived by two daughters and two sons.

"It is with deep sadness that we, his family, announce the passing of the man and artist David Lynch," his family said in a statement.



David Lynch is a Lifetime Achievement Oscar winner, a Palme d'Or winner at the Cannes Film Festival, and an honorary Golden Lion winner at the Venice Film Festival. He has been nominated for an Oscar for Best Director three times. Lynch is best known for his films Blue Velvet, Lost Highway, Inland Empire, Mulholland Drive, and the TV series Twin Peaks.

Lynch's last feature film was 2006's Inland Empire, and his major screen project was the third season of Twin Peaks in 2017.
