British automaker David Brown Automotive has unveiled a classic Mini converted into an electric car. It's called Mini eMastered and can travel up to 177 km on a single charge.
One of the advantages of the classic Mini is its compact size and light weight. To ensure that this electric modification does not disrupt the car's handling with the help of a massive battery, engineers used a compact battery with a capacity of 18.8 kWh, driving a 97 hp electric motor. with a maximum torque of 175 Nm. This is enough to accelerate the Mini eMastered from zero to 100 km/h in 8.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 148 km/h.
Although the battery is small, the electric car can travel 177 km on a single charge and can be charged from 6.6 kW AC stations. Charging will take about 3 hours. Impressively, the new model weighs just 640 kg - the same as it did when the car was equipped with the original internal combustion engine.
Among other things, David Brown Automotive has made a number of exterior and interior updates to the Mini eMastered. For example, the electric car received a front grille of the corresponding color and an orange roof. Of course, David Brown offers customers the opportunity to completely personalize their car, meaning no two Mini eMastereds will be the same.
The interior has also been completely rethought. First up, the Mini gets new seats adorned in brown leather. There's also a three-spoke wood-wrapped steering wheel, a Pioneer infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and plenty of metal switches and buttons.
