Traditional Splash Festival opens in China

The annual event in Yunnan attracts many tourists, and every year the level of preparation becomes more serious. You can't get away with water pistols anymore.

And it all began in the 5th century. According to one version, it was then that the traditional holiday of the Dai, a people living in southwest China, northwest Myanmar and northern Thailand, arose.

Law enforcement officers are not short of fun during the traditional festival and are often the targets of water attacks. Sometimes they can’t cope on their own and even call armored vehicles for help.
