Drones fell on a crowd during a Christmas show in the USA (6 photos + 1 video)

In Orlando, Florida, spectators were injured when several drones collided and fell during a light show. One of the victims, 7-year-old Alexander Edgerton, required emergency heart surgery.





The event was organized and sponsored by the City of Orlando.

“At 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 21, several small drones collided and fell into the crowd during the show,” according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), which is currently investigating the incident.

A second 15-minute show was scheduled for 8 p.m., but was cancelled due to technical difficulties.



Adriana Edgerton, the mother of the injured boy, said her son was hit in the chest and lip.

"My first instinct was to duck and run, and as soon as we realized it, my daughter saw her brother lying unconscious. His face was covered in blood," Edgerton recalled.





According to authorities, only the boy was seriously injured.

Alexander will spend Christmas in the hospital's intensive care unit.

On her social media page, the mother shamed the show's organizers: "The Orlando City Government and Sky Elements Drones must be held accountable for what happened to my son. I pray he can recover!"





Sky Elements Drones said they are working with the FAA and authorities to determine the cause of the incident.

"Sky Elements Drones sincerely hopes for a full and speedy recovery for those injured during our show at Lake Eola in Orlando on Saturday, December 21st. The well-being of our audience is our top priority, and we regret any distress or inconvenience this may have caused. Millions of people attend our shows each year, and we always meet the highest safety standards set by the Federal Aviation Administration."



"We carefully review every drone show application to ensure the safety of the public," the federal agency said.

Many eyewitnesses shared videos of what should have been a spectacular event, but turned into a nightmare.
