In England, tourists are offered to spend the night in a tank hotel (6 photos)
In the village of Friskney in the east of England, tourists are offered to stay in apartments created from a real army armored vehicle.
The owner of the unique "hotel" on the website calls it Tank Samaritan, which is not entirely correct. The "apartments" in Friskney, photographed on the shore of a picturesque pond, are made from a British FV104 Samaritan ambulance. This is an armored ambulance designed to evacuate the wounded from the battlefield. To make it look more like a tank, a fake tank turret was installed on top.
However, the Samaritan has a common base with the British light tank FV101 Scorpion, from which it differs in the absence of a real tank turret and a more voluminous armored hull.
The creators of the "hotel-tank" equipped the living quarters in a relatively spacious section of the "Samaritan" for transporting the wounded.
In place of the two-tier stretchers, there are camouflaged sofas. Judging by the photo, there are pillows with images of British tanks from the First World War, a TV, a kettle, a two-burner hob, a toaster and a small cabinet. At night, the sofas can be folded out to make one fairly large double bed.
There is still not much space inside the armored vehicle, so in the residential version, a tent-hallway with a folding table and chairs is added to it. And a grill and a cauldron are installed outside.
The armored vehicle is installed on the shore of a picturesque pond, a few minutes' walk from the toilet and shower.
The description of the armored apartments states that they can be rented for two people for an overnight stay. It will cost £80 per night. You can also bring your pet. But then the price will increase by £20.
