A man named Daniel was working in his office when he heard a loud bang and saw shards of glass on the floor. He realized it was a bullet hole and rushed to check if his wife and daughter were safe.
41-year-old Daniel from Santa Ana, California, was shocked when a stray bullet pierced his window, broke a mirror, and headed toward the room where his family was sleeping. They were saved from tragedy only by furniture in the bullet's path - an Ikea bookcase that stopped its flight.
The incident occurred late at night when Daniel was working in his office and heard a loud bang, followed by shards of glass on the floor.
"At first I thought someone had thrown a rock at my window, but when I looked closer I realized it was a bullet hole," he said.
Realizing the danger, Daniel rushed to his wife and daughter's room, fearing that a bullet could have broken through the wall and hit them. After the man made sure that they were okay, he armed himself with his gun, turned off the lights, and called the police.
Santa Ana Police Department officers arrived on the scene 20 minutes later and reported that the bullet was likely stray and came from an area where another incident had occurred. However, the experience left Daniel deeply shaken.
"It's really scary to think about what could have happened. I just feel so lucky. This situation has shown me that life is precious and everything can change in an instant. And honestly, I'm grateful for this IKEA bookcase that saved my family," he said, adding that he is now seriously considering moving to protect his family.
In the comments, users supported him and also joked about "bulletproof IKEA furniture."
"The three most important things in real estate are location, location, location," "I had a stray bullet go through the wall and into the mattress I was lying on," "The mirror looks like a hero," they wrote.
