Court banned a woman of 8 years from entering her brother's room to clean (2 photos)
It sounds like an absurd tabloid headline, but as they say, life is a fountain of surrealism. In Singapore, a court literally banned one diligent sister from going near her brother's room to clean. And not for a month or even a year - but for eight years!
The story of this family conflict resembles a script for a psycho-thriller. It turns out that the sister had been conducting "night raids" with a rag and a mop in her brother's room for several years. And she did it not during the usual daytime, but between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m. – just when people are generally used to sleeping peacefully. But not the brother of this persistent cleaner. The man repeatedly tried to explain that these nighttime cleanings were driving him to a nervous breakdown. In response, his sister only pursed her lips and continued to squeeze cleanliness into his life, like cement into a crack.
“I am against intrusions” – the brother is in despair
According to the unfortunate brother, “his sister ignores his personal boundaries and literally invades his personal space.” And he, by the way, needs something more than just clean floors. Nervous breakdowns, mental hospitals, poor health for weeks – all this was the result of his sister’s obsessive desire for sanitation.
The unfortunate brother went so far as to make an appointment with a psychologist and eventually filed a lawsuit - when he could have simply hung a "Keep Out" sign on the door. But apparently, the sister would have taken the sign seriously only if it had a seal and the judge's signature.
The judge, who listened to both sides of this comedic, but partly dramatic conflict, ended up on the brother's side. According to the court, such a zealous "clean freak" with a mop in her hands really crossed all possible personal boundaries and invaded personal space, albeit with good intentions. The judge emphasized that the sister's behavior worsens the mental state of the brother, and this is a good reason for the ban. Thus, the woman was officially banned from cleaning at night for eight years. Cleaning at night in this house is now truly a locked matter.
