Terminally ill official married a cleaning lady (5 photos)
Having met his soulmate Julie Burnett, a 55-year-old housekeeper, the man decided to waste no more time and hold the ceremony in a hospice.
Terminally ill John McMehon, a former assistant manager at Glasgow City Council (UK), married the "love of his life" just months before his death. The couple's wedding took place at the local Marie Curie Hospice.
John, 59, was diagnosed with cancer four years ago. After undergoing treatment, doctors told him there was nothing more they could do. Last year, he was given the opportunity to undergo additional radiation therapy, which gave him hope for recovery, but a month later the excruciating pain in his right lung returned. Eventually, the patient was told the cancer was incurable and he had 6 to 12 months to live.
After meeting his soulmate Julie Burnett, a 55-year-old cleaner, about five years ago, the man decided not to waste any more time and hold the ceremony in a hospice.

The wedding was organized in five days. For the holiday, they prepared a Victoria sponge cake, invited a professional photographer, arranged a beautiful flower arch, as well as confetti and a buffet.
"It was such a joyful occasion - I married the woman I love. Julie has a heart of gold, although she doesn't realize it. I wanted to make sure she was safe and financially stable. I love her and I want to do everything I can to protect her," says John, a father of three, Ian, Liam and Shannon.
The Briton urged people to cherish as many memories as possible with the people you love and to live one day at a time.
